Stuart Shepherd Martin was born December 7, 1948 in Urbana, IL.
Stuart’s life ended with a smile and a wink on June 30th 2018, in the arms of many that loved him.
There will be a 70th birthday/memorial party for Stuart on December 7, 2018 at the Homer Lake Lakehouse. More details as the time nears.
Stuart’s father, Ross Martin, and mother Marian Shepherd Martin proceeded Stuart in death.
Stuart was rich with family. He leaves his wife Sally Duncan, two sons, Nathan Martin, Lawrence KS and Jonah Duncan (Krissy Moony), Shelter Cove CA and one granddaughter, Zoie Stone, Lawrence KS.
A sister Nancy Baily, Kalamazoo MI and two nephews Ryan Malmgren (Stacy Rieu) Madison WI and Stuart Baily (Beth Bender) San Jose CA. Three great nephews and two great nieces. The family of Stuart’s heart is a list too long for this notice.
Stuart was a woodworker and an artist, he retired from Buzzard Organ Company.
Stuart loved bicycling, bourbon, laughter, clean lines on a sail boat, close jointery in woodworking and above all else his family and friends.
Stuart was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War. He served two years alternative service outside Madison WI. He was proud of the service he provided at that time of his life. Being a safe and trusted friend were important ideals. He appreciated accuracy, honesty and held himself to high standards.
As a father, grandfather and tissue donor, I pray that through Stuart’s DNA the messages of integrity, kindness and trending lightly on this earth, live forever.
