Jacqueline “Jacque” Chase, 70, of Urbana left this world on Sunday, January 15, 2023, surrounded by friends and family at home. Jacque was born July 23, 1952, in Tiskilwa, Illinois to Harry and Mary (McMahon) Chase (both deceased) and grew up in Ohio, Illinois. She was the oldest of five girls. Jacque is survived by sisters - Julie Chase of Steamboat Springs, CO, Rebecca (David) Carstenson of Seminole, FL, Catie Chase and Cristie Hess both of Berlin, WI; niece - Taylor Scharschmidt; nephews - Parker and Carter Hess. She graduated in 1974 from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in History. Post-graduation Jacque entered co-ownership of Ruby Gulch (campus music venue) and spent several years in her hometown working in real estate research. Jacque returned to Champaign in 1987 joining the Champaign County Court Services Department as a Probation Officer. Over the next 26 years, she held several positions within the department and retired in 2013 as the Chief Administrative Probation Officer. She developed a passion for working with domestic violence victims, which led her to a second career facilitating groups with Cognition Works up until her illness. Jacque’s loyalty and devotion as a friend allowed her to maintain lifelong friendships from high school, college and career. She loved gardening and sharing produce, crafting, shopping and visiting on the patio around the fire. Jacque was an avid concertgoer as well as a voracious reader of mysteries and fantasy. Beyond her friends, Jacque’s other “chosen” family was her fur babies – Sam, Spooky, Loki, Foxie and Max. She was always willing to have a pet visitor and always ready with a treat. Jacque left us too soon; however, she made a difference in this world and she will be deeply missed and always remembered. A celebration of Jacque’s life will be held on Saturday, May 20th from 4-8:00 PM.at 920 N. Linview Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61801.
