Beverly C. (Hall, Thurman) Bell, 72, of Urbana passed away peacefully in her home at 11:30 a.m. on April 6, 2022.
Beverly, the 1st of 5 children, was born on July 7, 1949 in Rockford, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her father Eddie Hall and mother Marion (Shannon) Hall.
In 1976, Beverly moved from Rockford to Savoy, Illinois to attend the University of Illinois where she graduated with a BSW and a MS in Human Resource Development. She worked over 15 years for DCFS as a caseworker. She is a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
Beverly was a sketch artist and loved to draw, but her favorite pastime was sewing; she was an incredible seamstress. What began in her teenage years and continued throughout her life was her love for designing, sewing, and modeling her own clothing.
When her children were young, Beverly hosted Monopoly and Spades parties with her friends and was on a bowling team –a sport her children often enjoyed with her; the former, she still took pleasure in playing with her grandchildren and family.
Beverly loved listening to gospel music, delighted in taking cruises, and reading romance novels.
Beverly is survived by her husband Ronald “Ron” Bell of nearly 30 years; daughters- Stephanie Thurman of Urbana, Sharnae (Thurman) Phagan of Chicago; stepson- Jeremy (Heidi) Bell of St. Joseph; grandchildren- Tracin, Ashanti, Depeche, Damien, Aalaiyah, Aanaijzah, Adeline, Asher; great-great grandchildren- Zariyah & Damien Jr; brothers- Melvin Hall & Dennis Hall; sisters- Lauretta (Hall) Thrist & Charisse Shannon.
She will be dearly missed.
