Vivian Phyllis Larson, 82, of Urbana passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at
Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana.
Funeral services will be private. A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Sunday
March 25th, from 1-4 pm at First Christian Church, 3601 S. Staley Road, Champaign, IL. Please
wear your orange and blue!
Vivian was born in Glencoe, IL, on March 16, 1935, to parents William and Libbie (Hruska)
Peuckert. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as her sister, Marilyn Foster.
On December 28, 1957, she married Carl S. Larson. Carl survives in addition to her three
sons; Carl W Larson (Jennifer) of Chicago, Michael J. Larson (Lori) of Mahomet, and Daniel M.
Larson of Urbana. Four grandchildren also survive her, Maggie, William, Jack, and Grace.
Vivian received her bachelors degree in food science from the University of Illinois. After
graduating, Vivian ran the food service at the Illini Union. She spent the next forty years
working as a dietician at the U of I and the Carle Pavilion. Vivian was a member of St.
Matthew's Lutheran Church and was an active member of the community. She served on a
variety of boards and volunteered with several area groups, including PEO, the Krannert Art
Museum, CU Symphony, Japan House, Phi Mu fraternity, and the Spurlock Museum among
others. Vivian loved hosting parties and entertaining friends, spoiling her grandchildren, shopping, shopping, and more shopping, traveling, and cheering on the Illini.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the past and present staff at Meadowbrook as
well as our extended family and friends for their love and support these past 5 years. The
care, visits, cards, flowers and custards are greatly appreciated.
