Doris Perry Obituary

Doris Loretta Perry, 86, of Urbana, went to be with the Lord at 8:42 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital.

Doris was born August 3, 1931 in Champaign, Illinois.  She was the 2nd child of 9 to Cecil and Annie Marie (Huskisson) Hyatt; they preceded her in death. She was sister to Mary Stephens, Clarence Hyatt, Donald Hyatt, Cecelia Bohlen, Barb Bohlen, Carol Deck, Bea Gaines, and William Hyatt (who preceded her in death.)  

Doris married Maynard Burke on January 16, 1956.  Together they had three daughters who survive: Benita Humes (Rick), of Mahomet, Dorinda Sides (Dwayne), of Mahomet, and Bettina Eastin (Dan), of Tolono. She was a 2nd mother to Janet Thomas and Chris Green.  She was widowed in 1971.

On December 26, 1978, Doris married Clyde “Sonny” Perry; who preceded her in death in 2007.  She was a 2nd mother to Tim Perry, Chris Perry, and Phyllis Perry of Florida as well as Mike Perry of New Hampshire.  Daughter Pam Perry preceded her in death.

Doris adored her family, she considered them her greatest blessing. She loved family gatherings and picnics with her sisters and brothers.  She was an excellent cook. Her most requested dishes were apple pie, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad.

Doris’ pride and joy were her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.  Her favorite hobby was to worship while listening to southern gospel music.

Doris was a beautiful, loving and caring person.  She will be missed dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 17th at the Midwest Believers Church, 1802 S. Duncan Rd., Champaign, Illinois 61822. Pastors Trent and Rhonda Cloin will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.
