URBANA, IL-  Violet Mae Gotschall, 94, passed away at 4:12 PM, Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello, IL.

There will be a private family graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.  Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 Philo Rd., Urbana, is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Violet was born February 22, 1931, in Jacksonville, IL, a daughter of George and Ruby (Pruitt) Mason.  She married Clarence Earl “Bud” Gotschall on September 16, 1947 in Jacksonville.  He preceded her in death on July 22, 2013.  Survivors include a son, Randy (Linda) Gotschall of Monticello, IL and a daughter, Pam (Tom) Smith of Urbana.  Two siblings, Nige Brogdon of Jacksonville, and Mary Sayre of California survive, as well as, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and a sister.

Violet was the owner and manager of The Card Shop at Lincoln Square Mall for many years. She loved spending time with her family, friends, shopping and attending her church.  Violet was a founding member of Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Champaign.
