Vickie Lynn Cromwell, 72, of Urbana passed away at 11:45 a.m. at her home.

She was born on October 18, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky the daughter of Vera Cromwell.

Vickie is survived by her brother- Walter Cromwell of Saginaw, Texas, and her nephews- Walter Cromwell Jr. (Maranda) and Terry Andy (Jennifer) along with seven great nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her mother-Vera Stoner- Taylor, Grandparents-Pearly and Romel Reed, and Nephew-Tyson Andy Sr.

Vickie attended Saint Augustine grade school, where she celebrated her First Communion. Also, she attended Shawnee High School and Western Kentucky University where she received a bachelor’s degree in education. In addition, she was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Omega Delta Chapter.

Her teaching career began at W.R. McNeill Elementary (Bowling Green Kentucky) and later moved to Urbana and taught at Yankee Ridge Elementary School. Vickie was a mentor teacher for University of Illinois student teachers. She also worked for several years for Parkland College helping with curriculum. In her spare time Vickie enjoyed cooking, travelling and ‘old school’ western television shows. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at A.D. Porter & Sons, 1300 W. Chestnut Street, Louisville, KY.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Eastern Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and A.D. Porter & Sons are assisting the family.
