Susan A. Flanegin of Urbana, Illinois went home to be with the Lord after a short battle with ALS on January 4, 2026. She was born in Kansas City, MO on August 29, 1954 along with her twin Michael. She grew up on a farm in Yates City, Illinois then attended the University of Illinois in Urbana followed by George Mason University in Northern Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She lived and worked in Virginia, Colorado and New Mexico, and then eventually moved back to Illinois. She raised her son, Luke there and worked for the University, retiring in 2022. 

She was preceded in death by her stillborn son Benjamin, her father Hurff Cratty Flanegin and her mother Joan Miller Flanegin. 

She is survived by her son Luke Flanegin of Urbana IL and her 6 siblings, Demis Miles of Urbana IL, Sharon Mayrgundter of Annapolis MD, Lolly Bonomi of Severna Park MD, Michael Flanegin of Las Vegas NV, Janice Onken of Odenton MD and Tim Flanegin of Prescott AZ. 

She enjoyed her family, especially her son,her dogs, gardening, remodeling, and was a life-long learner. No services are planned at this time.
