Roger Franklin Koch, 73, of Brooksville FL, formerly of Urbana passed away at 10:07 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. Rev. Phil McGarvey will officiate. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the funeral home.
Roger was born in Champaign on April 29, 1945 to parents Wayne and Evelyn (Bunting) Koch. They preceded him in death.
On May 22, 1999 Roger married Pauline Mitchener in Lake of the Woods, Mahomet, she survives. Also surviving is their daughter Amy Spindler (Richard) of North Reading, MA, two granddaughters; Madison Grace and Payton Rae, his brother Douglas Koch of Rochester, MN and his step son Paul Tabaka of Colorado.
Roger was a graduate of Urbana High School and a United States Marine being honorably discharged in 1972 as a Sergeant (E-5).
He worked for SuperValu for forty-two years and also ran Koch’s Mowing Service.
He loved hunting, fishing and sports. He was an avid Illini fan and on rare occasions a New England Patriot’s fan.
Roger was a loving husband, father, brother and friend and is going to missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know and love him. And as Roger would say, he will “Talk to you further down the road.”
