Robert H. “Bob” Swisher, 91, of Urbana passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Betty by his side on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Bob was born on August 16, 1931 at Burnham Hospital in Champaign, a son of L. Harlan and Martha Swisher.  His parents and grandson, Nicholas Bartz preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Betty, sons, Dirk of San Diego, CA, Brit (Jamie) of Wauwatosa, WI, Jedd (Myra) of Urbana and Rork (Sue) of St. Charles, MO.  Twp step children, daughter, Kris LaCrone of Denver, CO and son, Darin (Keri) LaCrone of Wichita, KS and 11 grandchildren, Brook (Brian) Hissong, Stephanie Swisher, Austin (Sara) Swisher, Riley Swisher, Kye Swisher, Karlie Swisher, Chris (Heather) Jacobson, Leary (Bill) Morris, Cody LaCrone, Blake LaCrone and Savannah Bartz.  9 great grandchildren, Devan, Avery, Charlee, Grace, Reed, Lucy, Henry, Weston and Hayden.  A brother, Jim (Peggy) of Savoy, nieces and nephew. He married Carol Sappenfield, Atlanta, GA in 1956, the mother of his 4 sons, then later married Betty (nee Harper) LaCrone in 1993.  They both survive. Bob grew up in Urbana/Champaign and attended Schools in Danville, Champaign and graduated from Urbana High School in 1950.  He joined the Navy after graduation 1950 – 1954.  After his service years he worked for the rest of his life in the graphic arts-printing business.  He worked 4 years at Our Wonderful World Encyclopedia, 5 years at WCIA 3 with short stints at California Offset and Disney World.  He was owner of ABANA Press retiring in 1997. Bob wrote a column on Antiques and Collectibles in the News-Gazette for 1 month short of 20 years.  He just retired as an active member of PACA (Preservation and Conservation Association) for the last 34 years.  He was an avid antiquer and a collector of several items especially doorknobs. Bob made many, many friends in Urbana-Champaign who he kept in touch with over the years.  He will be missed by all who know and loved him. He was an active member of AA for over 51 years and was very proud of his accomplishment. Memorial contributions may be made to Full Circle House, Inc, meeting place of a  local AA in honor of Robert H. Swisher, sent to Renner-Wikoff Chapel. By the words of Bob, before his death said, “I can’t leave this world without pointing out the good friends who have passed before me:  Ronald (Barney) Ping, Bob (Flipper) Mason, Donald Dodds, Kenny (KC) Jones and his wife Sue, Jeff Markland, Gordon Hatch, Frank Kammerer,  Gordon Kemper, Louie Hardy,  Bill Baker and his wife Jul, John Solon, Earl (The Dog) Hanshaw, Gary Blum, Jim Healy, Bill Perring, Chuck Flora, and Marion McKenry.”
