Robert Bryan Long Obituary
Robert “Robby” Bryan Long, 44, of Indianapolis, IN (formerly of Champaign, IL), passed away
on November 6, 2024. Born on November 22, 1979, in Urbana, IL, to Robert and Yvette Long,
Robby married Stacy Walton on July 9, 2005. He is survived by his wife Stacy, son Brayden,
parents Robert and Yvette, nephew Ashton, and many extended family members. He was
preceded in death by his sister Whitney, grandparents Cary and Florence McClendon, and
uncle Ronald Long.
Robby was a standout athlete at Centennial High School, earning induction into their Hall of
Fame for football in 2022. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 2002 as a scholarship
football player, helping his team win the 2001 Big Ten Championship and compete in the Nokia
Sugar Bowl. Robby's love for coaching led him to serve as Head Coach at DePauw University in
Greencastle, IN, achieving a 20-10 record and leading the team to the NCAA playoffs. After his
coaching career, he worked in logistics as VP of Sales for Total Quality Logistics in Indianapolis.
Robby was passionate about family, Illini football, and barbecue. He dedicated his time to
community service, was a board member of the Honorable Illini, and helped coordinate the
Honorable Illini Youth Football Combine & Skills Camp in Champaign.
A Celebration of Life service will occur at 2:00 pm on Wednesday,
November 20, 2024, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Urbana. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be sent to an account for Brayden Long at PNC Bank. Condolences can be
