Robert L. Lane Sr, 81, of Tolono and formerly of Urbana  passed away at 9:53 a.m. on June 9, 2023 at Carle Foundation, Urbana. He was born on June 18, 1941 in Scott County , Virginia the son of James & Dora (Matney) Lane. Robert is survived by daughters Madonna Thompson of Champaign, Chris (Kevin) Harris of Tolono, sons Robert  (Sydnie) Lane Jr. of Bethany, Bret (Heather) Lane of Lansing Michigan; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchild; brothers- Richard Lane of Decatur,  Wayne Lane and David Lane both of Maroa, James Lane of Oreana.  Sisters- Suella Wallace, Marsha Wiekle and  Mary Berg all of Maroa, Viola Richardson of Bloomington and half sister Janeann Fessler of Alabama He is preceded by his parents and a sister. Robert enlisted in the Navy in July of 1961 and was honorably discharged for a medical issue in July of 1962.  He worked for over 30 years for Alloy Casting in Champaign, Illinois. Robert enjoyed golf, camping and walking in the Mountains,  Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Renner- Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, IL. 61802. Visitation will be from 10-12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Chris Smithey will be officiating. Burial will be in Garver Church Cemetery, Decatur, Illinois.
