Robert Clayton Smith Obituary

Robert Clayton Smith 90 of Urbana passed away Thursday January 23, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Bob was born in Wallace, Michigan, the son of William and Myrtle (Johnson) Smith, one of eleven children.  He is survived by his wife, Pam Smith, brother, Lawrence James Smith, daughters, Constance (Connie) Jane DeFelice, Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Templet and Karen Marie Brown, sons, John Peter Smith and Daniel Sherman Smith.

Bob lived a hard farming life until he joined the US Air Force in 1952.  He retired in 1973 with the rank of Tech Sargeant after serving in Okinawa, Korea and the Vietnam War.  After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the United States Postal Service in Champaign, providing for and raising five children.  He continued his service to his country by joining the American Legion Urbana Post 71 and was a member of the Color Guard.

A Celebration of Life was held in the memory of Robert Clayton Smith at the American Legion Urbana Post 71.
