Richard Fitzsimmons Obituary

Richard L. Fitzsimmons, 87, of Champaign, formerly of Villa Grove, passed away on Dec. 10, 2025, at 6:12 p.m. at Bickford of Champaign.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1937, in Champaign, the son of William and Opal (Mabis) Fitzsimmons.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard Fitzsimmons of Palmetto, Fla.; daughters Laura Wagner of St. Joseph and Peggy Kistler of Northport, Fla.; grandchildren Cody Fitzsimmons, Paul Devore, Heather Anderson, Ashley Dallas and Derek Wagner; and great-grandchildren Alexander Dallas, Leonardo Dallas, Alexandria Dallas, Rosalia Dallas, Isabella Dallas, Maximus Dallas, Carter Wagner and Kirk Wagner.
He was preceded by his parents; wife Dorothy; son Thomas Fitzsimmons; brothers, James Fitzsimmons and Robert Fitzsimmons.
Richard worked 30 years for the University of Illinois as the equipment manager for the Fighting Illini football team. He was a long-time member of United Methodist Church, Villa Grove.
A graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Cemetery, Urbana, at a later date.
