Paul Murrah, 90, of Urbana passed away on September 14th, 2023, at home surrounded by the love of his life, Barbara, and family. Paul was a loving husband, a devoted dad, and a fun-loving grandfather and great-grandfather.
Paul was born on March 16, 1933, in Sidney, Illinois to Bert and Fannie May (Goodknight) Murrah. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from 1953-1955. Paul retired after 36 years from the University of Illinois. He also worked at Brownfield Machine shop and Schnuck’s Urbana as well as many other side jobs.
He married Barbara Jean Long on April 9th, 1973. He raised 5 children, Kim (Lowry) Dorsey, Cathy (Murrah) Buchanan, Joe Murrah, Karen Lowry, and Karla Lowry. He had 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother as well as his sisters, Joan (Murrah) Rawdin, and Esther Murrah.
Paul belonged to the Masonic Lodge #220, Webber Street Christian Church, American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, watching his Cubs and the Fighting Illini, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Flowers can be sent to Webber Street Christian Church for the Celebration of Life, Friday the 22nd at 1pm.
