Ok Yon Philiph, 83, of Urbana passed away on Tuesday, July
16, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Ok Yon was born on November 23, 1940 in Busan, South
Korea, the daughter of Bong Jun Ku & Mar Bong Lee. She
married Ronald Wayne Philiph on June 16, 1972 in Grand
Forks, North Dakota.
She is survived by her daughters-Patricia Philiph of Urbana,
Cindy Philiph of Champaign; Grandson-Jong Min Philiph of
Champaign.
Ok Yon is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and
husband, Ronald.
She attended school in South Korea. Ok Yon was a property
manager for many years until a month before her death. She
enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, Korean food, and
Butterfingers.
Ok Yon was a strong, intelligent, independent woman and
loving mother. In South Korea, she lived through the Japanese
occupation in the 1940s, and the Korean war. She raised her
daughters as a single mother for over 45 years, in a country and
language that were new to her. She will be missed dearly but
her daughters take solace in that she is now with their father in
Heaven with God.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024 at
Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, Illinois
61802. Chaplain Andres Beyke will be officiating. Visitation

will be from 11-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may
