Norman Karl Stenzel Obituary

CHAMPAIGN, IL- Norman Karl Stenzel, 88, of Champaign, IL, passed away at 2:55 PM,
Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello, IL.

There will be no public services at this time. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S.

Norman was born on May 31, 1936 in Avenel, New Jersey, the son of Alexander Karl Johannes
and Eva Anastasia (Bogdanowicz) Stenzel. He married Alice Ann Gorden on March 20, 1990
and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Jules Wolf Stenzel of Madison, Wisconsin and Erich Alexander
Stenzel of Chicago, IL as well as niece, Dawn Diane Dickenson and three granddaughters, Flora Lucia Hayes, Anneliese Helena Stenzel, and Alessandra Sophia Hayes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Eveline Stenzel.

Norman was a New Jersey born, Midwestern farm-raised boy. He was also a decidedly hip
beatnik, intellectual, Stanford educated man. He had a great sense of adventure and humor
and was a true advocate of civil rights and social justice. He was kind to all the animals and
wanted to take care of people. He will always be in our hearts and our minds.

“Just outside the door, the road goes on to the sun….the way bathed in gold.”
-Haiku by Norman Karl Stenzel
