URBANA, IL-  Maxey R. “Raymond” Overmyer, 86, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 3:07 PM, December 29, 2023 at his residence.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 4-6PM, at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 8, 2024 at the funeral home with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.  Military rites will be performed by V.F.W. Post 5520, Champaign.

Raymond was born January 29, 1937 in Neoga, IL, a son of Grant and Jennie(Scoles) Overmyer.  He married Ruth Coyle on June 29, 2006 in Champaign, IL.  She survives.  Also surviving are 3 children, Karen Seaton(Gary) of Urbana, Kimberly Brauner(Robert) of Ft. Worth, TX, and Kelly Warren of Urbana; four granddaughters, two grandsons, a great granddaughter, a brother and four sisters.  Also surviving are four step-sons, Jeffrey Heath of Urbana, Richard Heath(Janet) of Lakeside, CA, Gary Heath of Warren, Ohio, James Heath(Terri) of Madison, IN, two step granddaughters, a step grandson, and three step great grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, three brothers, three granddaughters, a grandson, a great granddaughter and his first wife, G. Jane Overmyer.

Raymond spent 11 years in the United States Army and received his A.S. from Parkland College.  He worked as a fleet mechanic for Kraft Foods for over 30 years and also worked at Ron’s Mower Shop.  He was a member of V.F.W. Post 630, Urbana, Odd Fellows, and Knights of Pythian.
