Mary J Thompson passed away January 16th at the age of 84. Mary was born on March 3, 1938 in Urbana, IL and lived in Urbana her entire life. Mary was married from 1958 to 1978 to Marion King, they had two sons together.
Mary worked at Burnham hospital, then Covenant for 23 years in total. She also worked as a lunch lady in the public schools. She was lovingly known to all as Grandma Mary, even the kids at the schools, and her community at Grace Church. Mary was always a loving and generous person, and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her spouse of 10 years, Dean Thompson in 1991, her parents, Tom and Francis Taylor, and her two brothers, George and Tommy Taylor. Mary is survived by her two sons, Richard King (Sharon) of Savoy and Darrel King (Lora Mock) of Champaign, six grandchildren, Jennifer Ray (Doug), Elizabeth Mitchaner (Michael), Benjamin King, Elijah King, Hannah King, and Alenah King, and two great grandkids, Adelae and Theo Mitchaner.
There will be a visitation for Mary at Quest United Methodist Church in Urbana Saturday January 21st from 10 -11:30 with a service at 11:30.
