Mary Ann Berg, 85, of Savoy, formerly of Urbana passed away at 3:01 p.m. June 24, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. She was born on October 15, 1937 in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of Valer & Emilia (Verdea) Secarea . She married  David Berg on September 1, 1962 in Erie, PA. Mary Ann is survived by her husband- David; son- Richard Henry Berg of Dallas, TX ;daughters- Frances Ann Berg of Alberquerque, NM and Rebecca(Thomas) Blakeslee of Vincennes, IN; grandson-Robert Blakeslee; sibling- Rebecca Maganuco of Glencoe IL, Valer Secarea of Trabuco Canyon California, and Sam Secarea of Elk Grove California. She is preceded in death by her parents. Mary Ann graduated college from Allegheny College with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Masters degree from Lehigh University. She worked for University of Illinois as an academic professional in computers and the super computer.  She was a life long learner, an accomplished violinist sitting 1st chair in Illini Strings Orchestra, “Nationals” bronze medal winner in swimming, ballerina, black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a Master Gardener. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, Illinois 61802. Father James Ellison will be officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Champaign, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Champaign County Humane Society, 4003 Kearns Drive, Champaign, Illinois 61822.
