Marcia Kay Cardiff Obituary

Marcia Kay Cardiff of Mahomet, IL left this world for her eternal party on October 31, 2025. The costume she chose is unknown, but if her last few days were any indication, it was most likely Lady Godiva.

Marcia was born October 28, 1944 in Urbana, IL to Albert Gorman Cardiff and Florence Edna Wilson. She was educated throughout the Urbana school system, graduating from Urbana High School in 1962, at one point achieving the notable distinction of having the longest ponytail in the school.

She was a talented advanced dance student who studied ballet, tap, toe, and jazz modern at Joanne’s Dance Studios in Urbana, where she also taught and did advanced demonstrations at National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts Chicago Chapter Sessions.

Following in her father’s footsteps, Marcia worked as an IBM clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad until the Champaign yard office closed. She then went on to retire from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as an admissions clerk.

Marcia also loved riding her American Quarter Horses, but her favorite time was spent grooming them and making sure their stalls were spotless, then sitting around the boarding barn to talk to anyone who was unsuspecting enough to sit down and hear her life story.

Her love of dance stayed with her, and even late in life, she could usually be found on the dance floor of a VFW with her friends, and a margarita in her hand. She was overjoyed when she found out that her eternal party would be never ending, with bottomless cocktails for all.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Gorman and Florence Edna Cardiff, and her brother Robert Peter Cardiff, many much loved kitties, her dog Mia, and her golden girl, PHBA CH My Color Of Money (Penny).

She leaves behind two daughters, Sheree Denise Diaz (Wil) and Kricket Ann Rogers; granddaughters Hilary Pope (Stacey), and Lalorana Rogers, grandsons Ian and Austin Herrington, and great granddaughters Cerenity and Zelda Rogers, as well as special friends Mary Kay and Gary Carpenter, Randy Stanley and Sandy Carley, Julie Shumate, Gina Pittsley, Dave Cooper, Laura Herriott Baylor, her beloved dog Lexi, and all of her friends at Rumple Ranch.

Marcia requested no services. There will be an informal gathering in the future. In the meantime, please raise a glass of your beverage of choice and give her one last toast. Donations may be given to Bull Terrier Mission (501c3) through PayPal or Zelle at BTRMissionpay@gmail.com or by checks sent to Bull Terrier Rescue Mission, 81 Murray St. #7, New York, NY 10007.
