M. Colleen Hart

M. Colleen Hart, 81, passed away October 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by friends and family. Colleen was born May 3, 1942 in Decatur, Illinois. The daughter of Norton & Margaret (Toth) Hudson. She married Robert E. Hart April 28, 1963 in Paxton, Illinois. Bob passed away September 20, 2004. She is survived by her daughter- Karen (Scott) Cochrane of Champaign; son- Kevin Hart of Rantoul; grandchildren-Tori, Oscar, Tristan, David (Tina), Adam (Morgan) and Maxwell; sister- Debbie Hudson-Pomes and her family, F.P Hudson- Pomes of South Bend, IN; brother- Joe (Audrey) Hudson of Chesterton, IN and their family, Stacie (Eric). Plus family from Bob’s side who she loved dearly. Colleen attended high schools in Paxton, IL and Amarillo, Texas and graduated in 1960. She was a school bus driver for RW Harmon and later worked for the MTD until her retirement. She loved working with the committee and supporting and walking in the Champaign-Urbana 4 th of July Parade. When she was younger, she enjoyed bowling, playing softball and even coaching her daughter’s Park District team. She and Bob were members of Savoy United Methodist Church and were a big part of helping them move the church from Savoy to their current location. She enjoyed sewing and quilting – making many of her grandchildren’s Halloween costumes, Tori’s dance outfits and beautiful quilts for special occasions. She and Bob were big supporters of the Fighting Illini, attending football and basketball games and several Bowl games.

But most of all, she loved going to see her grandsons compete in many different sports and watching her granddaughter at dance recitals and on stage. She loved spending time with her friends & family and her cat, Ruby, but especially her grandchildren. Colleen has some of the best neighbors, friends and caregivers – these people spent time and energy to keep her safe, comfortable
and loved to the very end. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Savoy United Methodist Church, 3002 W Old Church Road, Champaign, IL. Pastor, Jim Mc Clarey will be officiating. The Mc Clarey family have been wonderful friends to both Bob and Colleen for many years. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign. Visitation will be held 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 11, 2023 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, Il. Memorials may be made to Savoy United Methodist Church.
