Lois I. Ard, 96, of Mahomet passed away surrounded by her family on May, 1, 2024 at her home. She was born on March 27, 1928 in Paxton, Illinois the daughter of Everett & Alta (Napier) Schoonover. Lois married Ralph Gilliland in 1943. She married Eugene John Ard on January 14, 1971. Eugene passed away on September 7, 2015. Lois is survived by her children; Richard (Terry) Gilliland of Champaign, Connie “Jerry” (Brenda) Gilliland of Mahomet; stepson – Tim (Teresa) Ard of Danville; 9 Grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren 1great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands and 5 brothers & 3 sisters. Lois worked as a waitress, house cleaner and farmer. Her family was very important to her, and she loved spending time with them. She also was a member of the Moose and enjoyed gardening and was a motorcycle enthusiast. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, IL 61802. Chaplain Deborah Slack will be officiating.
