Linda Sue Fitzsimmons Obituary
Linda Sue Fitzsimmons, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at Accolade Healthcare of Savoy on Sunday August 10, 2025.
Linda was born in Urbana, Illinois, one of four children, on August 11, 1942, the daughter of Alma Mae Christians and Robert Eugene Saltsgaver.
Linda's life was shaped by a deep love for family and friends, the love of crafting, the joy of cooking, and a strong work ethic. She worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Vesuvius USA for 34 years. When she retired, she moved down to Florida with her son where her daughter and son-in-law resided. Within three weeks of retirement, she began working part time for Public's food in the deli department and continued working there for six years until she moved back to Urbana, Illinois in 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma Christians and Robert Saltsgaver, Step-father Lee Robert Christians, her brothers Robert and Michael Saltsgaver, and her youngest son, Thomas Francis Fitzsimmons.
Linda is survived by her daughter Peggy Kistler and husband Steven Kistler. A daughter Laura Wagner, a son Richard Fitzsimmons Jr., and a sister Sandra Robison.
Six grandchildren: Paul Devore Jr and his wife Elissa DeVore, Heather Anderson and her husband Nick Anderson, Ashley Dallas and her husband Robert Dallas, Derek Wagner and his wife Kacey Wagner, Cody Fitzsimmons and his wife Mikayla Fitzsimmons, and Victoria Ruggles.
She is also survived by 13 great- grandchildren: Isabella Dallas, Maximus Dallas, Rosalia Dallas, Alexandria Dallas, Leonidas Dallas, Alexander Dallas, Carter Wagner, Kirk Wagner, Summer DeVore, Dessa DeVore, Braelynn DeVore, Layne DeVore, and Hadlee Fitzsimmons.
To her family and friends, Linda will be remembered not only as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend but also for a great sense of humor, unwavering love, and her memory will be cherished always.
Family and friends are invited to the memorial service Friday October 3, 2025 at 1:00 at Renner- Wikoff Chapel in Urbana, Illinois.
