Lawrence "Bud" Lovett

Lawrence (Bud) Lovett, 87, went to be with his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ peacefully with his family by his side on September 22nd, 2023, at Carle Hospital.  Bud was born on December 7th, 1935 in Urbana to Frank and Pauline (Fred) Lovett. He married Joan Munter in 1955 who survives. Also surviving are his children Rick (Pam) Lovett of Mahomet, Jo (Jeff) Stierwalt of Champaign, Crissy (Michael) Cunha of Maryland plus 5 grandchildren Jason (Becky) Stierwalt, Justin (Betsy) Stierwalt, Brandon (Jenny) Lovett, Taylor (Tyler) Lutz and Layke Cunha, as well as 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bud had 6 sisters and 1 brother with 1 sister surviving, Carole (Bob) Dalhaus of St. Joseph. Bud was a member of the UA Local 149 Plumbers and Pipefitters, where he worked as a pipefitter for 60 years. Bud served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He was also an active member of Bible Baptist Church in Champaign for 55 years where he served the Lord faithfully. Bud liked fishing and hunting, and loved all kinds of sports. He was an avid Cubs fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29th, 2023, at Bible Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Steve Swann. This will be followed by a private family burial service with David Ashby. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Missions Ministry at Bible Baptist Church in memory of Bud.
