John Kearns Obituary

John J. Kearns, 89 of Urbana passed away at 11:54 a.m. Wednesday November 23, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.  John was born December 20, 1932 at Terre Haute, IN, the son of Raymond and Frances (Hunter) Kearns.  He married Carolyn Huntington April 12, 1956 at Terre Haute, IN, she survives.  He is also survived by a son, John Kearns of Indianapolis, IN, a daughter, Margaret Kearns Hogan (Bob) and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded by a sister, Mary Lucarelli and brothers, Jerry Kearns and Michael Kearns, all from Terre Haute, IN.

 John graduated from Wiley High School and Indiana State College. He worked for the Social Security Administration and served 4 years in the U. S. Navy.  He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Urbana, IL and the American Legion.  He was an avid sports fan especially Cub Baseball and Illini sports.  John enjoyed travelling to sports training camps throughout the states.

 Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday December 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 708 West Main St., Urbana, IL with visitation 1 hour prior to service time.  Fr. Anthony will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Terre Haute, IN.

 The family would like to thank Amber Glen for the wonderful care provided to John by all of the staff.  We would also like to thank the staff at Carle Hospice for the excellent care given to John.
