John C. Hough Jr., 75, of Urbana passed away at 7:27 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at home.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. Graveside services will be held following the visitation at Prairie View Cemetery in Savoy.
John was born in Passaic, New Jersey on November 16, 1943 to parents John Sr. and Caroline (Falkenbury) Hough. They preceded him in death.
On January 8, 1983 John married Renee Naven in Pekin, IL, she survives. Also surviving is their daughter Anna Hough of Champaign.
John was raised in Congers, New York where he attended Clarkstown High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University, Master’s degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Ph.D from the University of Kansas.
John moved to Illinois in 1977 to teach biology at Knox College in Galesburg. He moved to Urbana in 1982 after receiving a teaching position at the University of Illinois. He taught Human Anatomy for 29 years before retiring in 2011.
He was an avid musky fisherman. He especially enjoyed fishing the lakes of northern Wisconsin, where he and his family vacationed for many years.
