Jo Anne Cochran

Jo Anne Cochran, 77, passed away on June 1, 2023 at her home.

Jo was born on December 2, 1945 in Chicago, the daughter of Claude and Hester (Bayliss) Nesmith.

She graduated from Urbana High School in 1964. She lived in Germany during her former husband's service in the U.S. Army from January 1966 to December 1967.  Later, they lived in St. Peters, Missouri for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Charlotte Nesmith Brady. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Anne Higgins (Michael) of Oak Park, Illinois; son Christopher David Cochran (Kiyomi) of Iwaki, Japan; brother-in-law Dan Brady; and her nieces Laura Techico and Kate Jordan.Jo lived for the past two decades at the Florida House Apartments in Urbana. Her family wishes to thank all those who so generously helped her during those years. Jo loved her friends, art and her church family at First Presbyterian Church of Urbana. She was very proud of her son and daughter. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 12 at First Presbyterian Church of Urbana. Donations in Jo's memory can be made to Eastern Illinois Foodbank in Urbana or First Presbyterian Church of Urbana.
