Obituary

Jason Michael McCartney passed from this life Friday, July 7th at his home in Gibson, IL. He was born February 10, 1970 at  Mercy hospital in Urbana, IL to Michael P. McCartney and Mary M. McCartney in Urbana, IL. He married Misty Joy Henderson September 19, 2019, she survives. He is also survived by his parents Michael McCartney and Mary Shamp, Brother Eric (Amy) McCartney, sister Melanie (Danny) Hoth, brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Loren (Sy) Feely and Donald McCartney, grandmother Anna Feely, and an unborn child. Jason Served a 4 year term in the US Navy from 1990-1994, which allowed him to see parts of the world once unknown to him.   He loved music, an accomplished guitar player. Loved all kinds of music, old and new. He loved animals, especially his kitties.  He was an avid gamer, loved his job as a bus driver for kids at First Student.Jason was baptized SDA in 1984. Jason did not want a funeral…so this is to be a celebration of his life, not a focus on his death. This would be a wonderful time for us to share with one another our fondest memories of Jason. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. at  Urbana United Methodist Church, 304 S. Race Street, Urbana, IL 61801. Visitation & fellowship will be from 1-3:00 p.m. with a service at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Melanie Hoth will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the family or Wounded Warriors.
