James R. Miller Obituary

James “Jim/Jimmy” Russell Miller, 64, of Urbana, died on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Reflections Memory Care, Savoy.
Jim was born on March 22, 1962, in Asunción, Paraguay, the son of Roy A. and Pauline I. Miller. The youngest of four siblings, he cultivated a life defined by devotion to his
family, friends, and his faith in God.
He graduated from Parkland College and began his career as a civil engineer with Sodemann &; Associates. He later joined Clark Dietz, where he spent many years
before retiring in 2024. His proudest accomplishment in his career with Clark Dietz was his contribution to many projects at Parkland College, redesigning parking lots,
courtyards, and more for over 20 years of his career. Outside of work, Jim was happiest in the simple, meaningful moments of life. He was a talented artist and loved spending time in his woodshop creating with his hands. He rarely missed a daily walk, enjoyed watching sports, and was always ready to lend a hand to family or friends. He loved to travel and enjoyed many trips in recent years withhis daughter and grandson. Jim will be incredibly missed for his kindness and steady presence by all of those who knew and loved him.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, Pauline and Roy Miller, and sister, Genevra Miller.
He is survived by his three children, Courtney Miller, Ever Autumn, and Jared Croslow; grandchildren, Boston Miller, Craig Croslow, Adam Croslow, and Kaylee Long; brothers,
Glenn Miller, and Steve Miller; two great-grandchildren plus an extended family of nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 3pm-5pm at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana. A memorial service will follow immediately at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
