James A. Hutchinson

James Andrew “Jamie” Hutchinson died on March 26, 2026, at home in Urbana, Illinois. He was born December 2, 1960 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from the University of ColoradoBoulder and the University of Illinois. He moved to Champaign-Urbana for graduate school in 1984, and spent most of his career working for the University of Illinois, in publications. His interests included reading, writing, poetry, jazz and spectator sports. He is remembered among friends for his kindness and gentle wit. Most of all, he loved time with family and friends and the outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Beth, daughter Mimi (Dan), and siblings Julie (Steve), Mary, Mark (Luana), Dave (Laura), and Amy (Michael). He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin W. Hutchinson and Patricia J. Hutchinson, and siblings John, Anne and Paul. Gifts in Jamie’s memory may be made to Community Shares of Illinois (www.communitysharesillinois.org). Celebrations of life in Urbana and Denver will be announced at a later date.
