James P. Cobb Obituary

James P. Cobb, 72, of Champaign, passed away on May 17, 2025, at

4:54 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 24, 1952, in Bedford, IN the son of Melvin & Grace (Stigall)Cobb. He married Rhonda Lucas on June 12, 1970, at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church in Bedford, IN.

James is survived by his wife, Rhonda; son- James P. Cobb II (Danielle D Cobb daughter in law) daughters- Sheila R. Tuddy, Cheryl L. Beavers and Chelsie D. Payne all of Urbana; 11 Grandchildren & 12 Great Grandchildren; brother- Donald Cobb of Bedford, IN; sister- Violet Darlene Hudson of Bedford, IN.

He is preceded by his parents; siblings- William Cobb, Mary Katherine Oliver, Beulah Burnette, Webster Cobb, Opal Cobb, Richard Cobb.

James graduated from Bedford High School in 1970. He moved to Illinois in 1994. He worked for JM Jones/ Supervalu as a Company

Driver for 5 years then he started his own trucking company Cobb Transport LLC in 1999.

 He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing (especially with Mike Rohour) His favorite thing was spending time with his children, grandchildren and especially his great- great grandchildren.

Celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday May 23, 2025, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, IL

61802. Pastor Chris King will be officiating. Visitation will be from 3- 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Solid

Rock Church of Rantoul, 1221 Enterprise Drive, Rantoul, IL 61866.
