Dr. Jack Jordan died at home on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the age of 90.

 Jack was born December 12, 1932, at Avant, Oklahoma, the son of Edward Branch and Dorothy M. Troyer Jordan.  His family moved many times during his childhood, finally putting down roots in Mechanicsberg, PA., where he graduated from high school.  He then graduated from Muhlenberg College and from Temple University Dental School.

 He joined the US Airforce, where he received his training as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.  After six years of training in San Antonio, TX, and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, he practiced Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in the Air Force, first at Salina, KS, and then at Tachikawa AFB, Tokyo, Japan.  From there he made many trips in and out of Vietnam during the war.  He was the 5th Air Force consultant to the surgeon general for the Far East, and also a consultant to the Indian Army.

 Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he was recruited by Carle Clinic, in Urbana, IL, and practiced there from 1968 until 1979.  Jack and his partners, Dr. Robert Keen and Dr. Richard Claydon, then left Carle in 1979 to form Affiliates in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with offices in Champaign, Mattoon and Bloomington.  He practiced there until his retirement in 2000.  He particularly enjoyed teaching, and leaves an accomplished group of former residents, now Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, around the country.

 Jack loved travel, and had the good fortune to see a great deal of the world.  He also liked cooking, woodworking and golf.  He was known to friends for his dry sense of humor and storytelling.

 Jack is survived by his wife Holly, and three daughters; Julie (Peter) Fleps, of Evanston, IL, Jill (Bruce) Freeman of Bahama, NC, and Jennifer (Glenn) Caracappa of Atlanta, GA, and by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a younger sister, Beverly, his former wife Kay Poitras and by one grandson, Connor Caracappa.
