PHILO, IL - Elaine L Swiader passed away peacefully at home Saturday morning, October 4, 2025.  Elaine was born August 4, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Esther Doskocil.  She married John Swiader in Vero Beach, Florida, June 5, 2003. He survives.

Elaine is also survived by sons Jeffrey (Stacy) Cornwell of Westfield, Indiana, and Gregory (Angelica) Cornwell of Frisco, Texas; 12 grandchildren,Tamara (Jason), Taylor (Bradley), Madison (Jacob), Reagan, Kennedy (Christopher), Corin, Tara (Isaac), Ryan (Sophie), Jay, Max, Leo, Mia; 10 great-grandchildren, Norah, Gavin, Primilla, Prudence, Priya, Quill, Lula, Wells, Damon, Brody.

Elaine raised her two boys in Arthur, Illinois, where she resided throughout their school years (graduating in 1981 and 1984). During this time, she worked at. ‘The Decorator’, a local shop. Eventually, she began working at the University of Illinois in 1987 as an administrative assistant, retiring in 2006.

In 2007, she suffered a debilitating stroke, which challenged her the rest of her life. Elaine faced this obstacle with composure and grace. Together with her husband, she would spend winters at their condo in Vero Beach, Florida, up until April 2020, when health issues became more frequent.

Cremation rights were entrusted  to Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana. A memorial service will take place at 10 AM on October 24, 2025 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Locust Grove cemetery, Philo.  Elaine’s gentle spirit and warm smile will be deeply missed.
