Edward Eugene McHenry 87, of Springfield, IL, originally of Champaign, IL passed away at 9:12 am, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Trustwell Living Center, he was the son of Mary K. Richman McHenry and Bert Lippincott. He married Marlene J. Jochim on July 15, 1955, and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Laura C. Chantos of Pheonix, AZ; one son, Kirk E. (Stephanie) McHenry of Athens; five grandchildren, Amber, Austin, and Avery Chantos and Ryan and Logan McHenry and multiple great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arthur McHenry.

He retired from the Champaign Police Department after twenty years of service. He then worked for the Illinois State Police for eighteen years.

Edward was of the Methodist Faith. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Champaign Police Benevolent and Protective Association.

Visitation: 2-4 pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

A second visitation will be held at 9 am until funeral services at 11 am, Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.
