Duane G. Metz, 91, of Champaign passed away on March 8, 2023 at his home. He was born on May 31, 1931 in Saunemin, Illinois the son of Raymond & Mardell(Goodrich)Metz. He married Joyce Kief on June 14, 1951in Roberts, Illinois. Joyce passed away on March 9, 1990. Duane is survived by a daughter- Rita(Steve) Skoulikas and a son- Richard Metz both of Champaign, Il; sister- Elizabeth Moore Schwartz of Urbana; 6 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents; wife; brothers- Raymond Metz and Robert Metz; sister- Joy Valentine; grandson Barry Dauenbaugh.Duane graduated from Drummer High School, Gibson City in 1949. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. He worked for Kiefer Stewart from 1955-1975 as a warehouse foreman and Brinks from 1976-1995 in armored car services. He was a member of Mattis Avenue Free Methodist Church. He enjoyed family and all types of sports. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Mattis Avenue Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 11-12:00 at the church. Pastor Herbert Coates will be officiating.
