Rev. Dennis A. Anglin, a Navy Vietnam Era veteran and longtime resident of Fithian, IL passed away on September 23, 2023, surrounded by family and singing his way up yonder. Dennis was known to many throughout east central Il as a pastor, postmaster, and a constant source of encouragement to all he encountered. Dennis was born August 2, 1942, at Burnham City Hospital in Champaign, IL to Francis and Eva (Hatter) Anglin. By the age of 14 he was already teaching Sunday School and at 16 serving on the church board. He attended Champaign Central High School and Illinois Commercial College before serving his country in Vietnam. Upon return from Vietnam, he married the love of his life Wilma Maxine (Davison) on April 24, 1966. Rev. Anglin began is his ministry and received his local preacher's license in 1968 through Westside Church of the Nazarene and then a District Preacher's license in 1969. He was ordained in 1972 by General Superintendent Dr. V.H. Lewis. Their journey in ministry took them to 13 different churches across Illinois and Wisconsin conducting 74 weddings, 10 baptisms, 22 dedications and 115 funerals. Dennis had a passion for spreading the gospel thru music and proudly proclaimed to all "that I was born to serve the Lord and I will do it until t the day I die". He accomplished this goal as he continued to minister to each medical provider and family member to the very moment the good Lord called him to join the Heavenly Choir.
Dennis was preceded in death by his loving wife Maxine, his parents, two sisters Rosetta Johnson and Frances Walton and a brother George Anglin.
Dennis is survived by his children Debbie Pyles, Champaign, IL, Dennis (Kristie) Anglin II, O'Fallon, IL, Lynette (Lisa) Anglin-Scott, Champaign, IL, and Eva (Michael) Conley, Lincoln, IL. Dennis was a beloved Great-Grandfather of 6, Grandfather of 10, and Uncle Denny to many nieces and nephews all of whom he loved and prayed for.
Visitation and Service will be held at Renner Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, IL 61802. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM 29 Sep 23 and 10-11 AM on 30 Sep 23 with service immediately following. Graveside service will be held at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian, IL. The family kindly requests that those who will attend the service wear patriotic colors.
