Deanna R Tatman Obituary

Deanna Rose Tatman, 87, of Urbana, Illinois has gone to be with the Lord. She died December 14, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.


Deanna was born June 15, 1938, in Champaign to Cloyce and Matilda (Deedrick) Brown. She married George W. Tatman on May 10, 1958. George proceeded her in death in 1980 and she never remarried. Often saying, ‘why would I, when I had the best?’. They had four children: Cindee (Wayne) Skinner, Georgia Tatman, Greg (Shari) Tatman and Candy (Donny) Brown, all of Urbana.


Deanna was also proceeded in death by a daughter (Cindee) and grandson (Baby Boy Brake).


Deanna was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. With many incorrectly thinking they were her favorite.


Grandchildren: Amanda James (Damone), Stacy (Steve) Copeland, Joseph (Tiffany) Dewese, Steven (Jillayna) Skinner, Jacob (Alison) Tatman, Jared Tatman, Jordan Tatman, Justin Brown, Kelsey Tatman, Shelly Brown and Abby Brown.


Great-Grandchildren: Alyssa, Nyah, Zechariah, Nicolas, Allison, Donovan, Clayton, Ceydee, Eavey, Alijah and Colvin.


Great-Great-Grandchildren: Za’Mira.


Whither you called her Mom, Grandma, Granny, Dee or Aunt Dee, you knew a woman that was kind, caring and would treat you like family. And you knew that she loved you and wanted the best for you!


Deanna loved watching sports, especially the Fighting Illini, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls. She spent many of nights yelling at the television in celebration and often disgust at questionable officiating. Deanna also loved bowling and was a regular at Old Orchard Lanes in Savoy. She was league secretary for many years on the Saturday Sub-Nighthawks League.


For many years Deanna ran the Carroll Addition Community Center in Urbana, overseeing bingo, chili suppers and various fundraising events.


Deanna was a member of Judson Chapel Baptist Church in Champaign, Illinois. She was a devout Christian who loved Jesus. She studied the bible and did daily devotions.


Visitation and funeral services will be held at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana. Pastor Rick Smith of Judson Chapel will officiate.


Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17, from 4-7PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 18, at 10AM with burial at Eastlawn Cemetery to follow.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Judson Chapel Baptist Church or to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
