Darlene White, 97, of Rantoul (formerly Champaign) passed away at 9:48 p.m., Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, surrounded by family. A memorial reception will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 27th at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd. Burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Hank Sanford will officiate the graveside service.
Darlene was born March 15, 1927 in Mahomet, Illinois to parents Vivian and Bessie (Larimore) Lindsey. She married Omer Dale “Barney” in Covington, Indiana on February 3, 1945. She is survived by grandchildren, Courtney White of Texas, April Tolliver of Indiana: Great Grandchildren: Cody Hutchins, Chelsea Hutchins, Casey Hutchins, Chaney Hutchins, Chloe Hutchins, Carleigh Hutchins, Canaan Welch, Judah Welch, Ainsley Tolliver, Brynn Tolliver, and Sister-in-Law, Kathy Lindsey of Fisher. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale; children- Kathy White, Gregory White, and Karen Welch.
Darlene graduated from Mahomet Seymour schools. She served as Justice of the Peace in Mahomet. She worked for the University of Illinois as an administrative clerk in guided individual study. Darlene volunteered for Provena Home Health. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Urbana. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her dog, Polly, quilting, camping, and wintering in Texas.
