Cristy Cribbett Obituary

Cristy Cribbett, 43, formerly of Urbana, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Loyola University Hospital, Maywood, IL. Cristy was born on April 20, 1979, to Richard and Cynthia (Voss) Cribbett, in Urbana, IL. Cristy is survived by her parents, daughters Lexie and Mari, all of Urbana, and sister Teresa of Mahomet, aunts, uncles, cousins, and “framily.” Cristy is preceded in death by relatives including her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cristy received her diploma from Rantoul Twp. HS in 1997, Associate in Science from Parkland College in 2003, and Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2005. Cristy had been working on her Master of Public Administration at University of Illinois Springfield prior to her passing. Cristy was employed in the social service field in the Champaign-Urbana area providing support and guidance to children and families needing early intervention, prevention, developmental, and home-based services. Cristy collaborated with several area agencies in order to improve services to those in the community.

Cristy had been a member of The Vineyard Church, Urbana, where she volunteered in the church’s children’s services checking families in and with vacation Bible School. Her interests included sports, music, dancing with friends, karaoke, playing cards, and spending time with her friends and family.

Lexie will miss laughing with her mom and just lying around talking or watching their favorite TV crime shows together. It brings Lexie comfort knowing that her mom is at complete and eternal peace. Lexie says, “You were my best friend and my rock, and you never judged me or tried to change who I am. I will love you and miss you forever, until we meet again.” Mari will miss her mom’s support, love, encouragement, and the thoughtful conversations they had. Mari especially enjoyed engaging in activities with her mom, such as cooking and trying new foods or learning to play new board games. Mari wants her mom to know that she was an amazing mom and that she was a beautiful person, inside and out. “I ‘lobe’ you, Mom.” Teresa will miss just hanging out, talking, and playing Skip-Bo with her sister. She wants Cristy to know she will miss the sound of her voice. Teresa would go to her sister for guidance and support to talk through things and figure it out together, and Cristy would ask Teresa, “Did you ask Jesus about it?” Cindy will miss the craziness of going shopping on Black Friday every year with her daughter. Rick cherishes the memories of coaching his daughter in softball and helping her to become a pitcher. He wants Cristy to know that she “did great and I am very proud of you.” Donations can be made to the family for a college fund for Mari. Condolences may be sent to renner-wikoffchapel.com.

A celebration of life Reception will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel , 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, Illinois 61802 .
