Caroline Yvonne Princehouse

SAVOY, IL- Caroline Yvonne (Crum) Princehouse 78 of Savoy, passed away March 12, 2025 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. There will be no public services. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Rd. in Urbana is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

Caroline was born on March 9,1947 to George and Gail Crum. She grew up in Yakima, earning a degree in pharmacy from the University of Washington. She attended the University of Illinois on a Fulbright scholarship pursuing a doctorate in Anthropology. While as a student, Caroline worked part-time as a pharmacist at Carle. Like many pharmacists she spent time as a pharmacist in Walmart, Walgreens, the Veterans Hospital in Danville before finishing her pharmacist’s career in McKinley Hospital.

It was then that she started seeing double forcing her to retire. She discovered that she had MS. It was difficult for her until her vision was restored with prisms in her glasses. Next a new oral drug was released so she didn’t need an injection anymore. Life was better.

Caroline was an avid swimmer spending her breaks at Crystal Lake pool. It was there she heard blues music coming from her neighbor’s jam box. She loved what she heard. She started to listen to WEFT. Then she became a member. Next came the air shifter training so she could start her own Blues music radio show. It was suggested that she might want a radio name for privacy concerns. Lady Red was suggested which happened to be her favorite color. Lady Red’s radio program endured 12 years on WEFT before it became too much. Early on Caroline had become the first genre head ordering new music from the various labels.

Caroline loved to read, swim, travel, play bridge tennis, hiking & basketball, especially Illinois Basketball.

Caroline is survived by her partner, John David Daubard, her sister, Mary & husband, Bill Huibregtsi ,2 nieces, a nephew, & eight grand nieces and nephews.
