Anthony (Tony) Mancuso Obituary

Anthony (Tony) Mancuso, 54 of Urbana passed away October 16, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.  Tony was born October 7, 1970, in Belleville, the son of Peter and Sandra (Burgard) Mancuso. He married Dana Swanson in 1996.  He is survived by his wife and his children Gabby and Andrew Mancuso. He is also survived by his mother Sandra Mancuso, sister Cara (Steven) Hayes, and grandmother Julia Burgard, as well as much extended family.

Tony’s sense of humor and kind heart will be long remembered. He was proud of his dedicated volunteer service coaching youth soccer and baseball. Tony impacted many families through a positive team sports experience where all are valued. Tony was an avid reader, a lifelong Cardinals fan and especially enjoyed trivia. He was a man of faith and tried to live accordingly.

Tony graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. A journalist by education and temperament, Tony spent many years at the News-Gazette, both as a copy editor/designer and later an editor. Most recently he worked as communications director for iSEE at the University of Illinois.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 21 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 Philo Rd., Urbana. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 20 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Urbana Park District Youth Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society.
