Zelma L. Thomas, 78 of Paxton formerly of LaPorte, Co. died at 8:03 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton.

Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery Faubush, Kentucky. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Thomas was born on August 9, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Hugh and Bertha Norris Preston. She married Edwin P. Thomas Sr. on March 9, 1946 in Covington, Kentucky; he died on March 28, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters; Terry L. Schneider of Fisher and Carol J. Moore of New Carlisle, Indiana, two sons; Edwin P. Thomas Jr. of Warren, Ohio and Robert H. Thomas of Orland Park, one brother; Elbert Preston of Milford, Ohio, ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mrs. Thomas was a billing clerk for many trucking companies.

A retired member of local union 710, she liked to bowl and had trained for Real Estate.
