Wilma Jean Elsesser, 86, of Urbana passed away on Sunday October 23, 2011 at Carle Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jon Scott Elsesser and her loving and patient husband of 65 years, Thaddeus Elsesser. She will be interred with them at Eastlawn Cemetery in Urbana.

Jean was well known for her feisty wit, and was full of life right up to the day she passed. A lifelong resident of Urbana, she and Thad spent Winters in southern Texas for over 30 years. They cultivated a shared fondness for crossword puzzles, camping, square dancing, and cruises. She was active in the PTA and League of Women Voters, played the marimba in the Urbana High School and U of I bands, and was accomplished at making jewelry, clothing, and other items.

She is survived by daughters Cynthia Anderson of Washington and Terri (David) Stark of St. Joseph. Also grandchildren Christian (Rebecca) Anderson of Nevada, and Eric Anderson, Makanda (Cortney) Smith, Dane (Stacy) Anderson, and Jennifer Anderson of Utah, as well as twelve great grandchildren.
