William "Bill" Theodore Wilkinson of Mahomet died 1:10 p.m. Monday, January 26 at home. Mr. Wilkinson was born April 3, 1935, the son of Edward and Opal Wilkinson. He is survived by his wife, Marcia, two daughters, Amy (Chris) Roberts of Philo and Melinda (Steven) Baugh of Rantoul; step-daughters, Heather (Darrin) Hall of Savoy, and Meghan (John) Echols of Champaign; step-son, Bryan McGow of Mahomet; twelve grandchildren, Cody, Jessie, Jennifer, Jessica, Justin, Emma, Christopher, Austin, Marissa, Caden, Caleb and Caley. He is also survived by one half-sister, Pennie Waite of Dryden, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John and a half-brother, Pat.

William served with the US Army from 1954 thru 1956. He retired from the Champaign Police Department in 1985 and from the Champaign County Coroner's Office in 1998. Bill was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed getting together with family and friends, playing cards, gardening (especially raising tomatoes) feeding all wildlife and birds, meeting the expectations of his dog, and occasionally visiting a casino.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Color guard will be provided by the Champaign Police Department.
