Obituary

William H. May of Urbana passed away Sunday, November 23rd, 2014.

William was born August 14, 1933 in Beardstown Il. To parents Olen and Mary (Caton) May. They preceded him in death. In 1958 William married Jean Ann Schroth and she preceded him in death.

William is survived by his longtime companion, Helen Miron, daughter, Amantha May, son-in-law Randolf Reiss and granddaughter Arden Reiss; brother Thomas (Shirley) May, sister Mary Jane Goulden and sister-in-law Joan May. Older brother John May also preceded him in death.

William served in the U.S. Navy as a Photographer's Mate. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a BA in English, held positions with the Institute of Communications Research, the University Observatory, the UI Children's Research Center, then joined Kuch & Associates/Intel as Senior Quality Control Specialist, which he held for over 20 years.

He was a member of the American Poolplayers Association and won many trophies and awards with his team, the Deluxe All-Stars. He was a long-time supporter of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. He especially enjoyed his daughter's theatre and dance performances and was a supporter of the performing arts in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. He traveled extensively in Europe, Central America and the Far East but he especially enjoyed spending time with his young granddaughter.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the compassionate and attentive staff of the Champaign County Nursing Home and the Oncology Unit at Carle Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm with a visitation beginning at 2pm at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Developmental Services Center, 1304 W. Bradley, Champaign; the Champaign County Humane Society, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts or the American Cancer Society.
