William Earl Houchens 75 of Urbana died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana; the Rev. Danny Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mr. Houchens was born on November 7, 1934 in Glasgow, Kentucky, the son of Bart and Judy Cook Houchens. He married Dorothy Lee Ellis on April 13, 1956 in Allerton, she survives.

Also surviving are two sons; Rick (Sherrill) Houchens of Urbana and Keith (Jane) Evans of Farmer City, one sister; Hazel Rexroad of Urbana, four grandchildren; Brad (Ashley) Houchens, Aimee Houchens, Kevin (Tonya) Evans and Joella Evans and four great grandchildren; Bryson Houchens, Sydnee Evans, Brayden Evans and Clayton Evans.

He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one great grandson.

Bill spent a life time in the grocery business owning three stores and was the former VP of retail operations for the JM Jones Company.

Mr. Houchens was a member of Webber Street Church of Christ in Urbana, the American Legion and the VFW both of Urbana. He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and being with family.
