Wm. Paul Cedusky Jr., 72, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Urbana, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Winter Haven Hospital after a brief illness.
Paul was born on July 25, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Wm. Paul Cedusky Sr. and Erlene B. Cook Cedusky. He married Judy Lawhead Martin on March 14, 1970. She survives.
Additional survivors include: a daughter, Jami Shelton of Winter Haven; beloved grandchildren, Laci Jackson of Miami, FL and Ronnie L. Jackson of Orlando, FL; a brother, Col. Dan Cedusky, Champaign and sisters, Judy (Roger) Corray of St. Joseph and Jaci Nickelson of Sidney; nieces, Katie (Terry) Andersen and Debbie (Max) Calvo of St. Joseph, Christine (Steve) Torres of Chicago, Andrea Cedusky of West Hollywood, CA, Cindy (David) Ruwe of Fairmount, and Morgen (Marc) Enzor of Tucson, AZ; and nephews, Mike (Denise) Corray of Charleston, IL and Jim (Donna) Nickelson of Homer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frances Koster.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy as a flight handler/director aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Coral Sea during the Vietnam Nam War. He served as a police officer with the Urbana Police Dept. He was a past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 71, Urbana and a life member. He was Convention Director of the 1983 American Legion Convention for the State of Illinois. He was named Outstanding Young Man of America -Jaycees in 1980. After leaving Urbana, he and his family owned and operated a resort in Park Falls, Wisconsin. Later, they moved to Arkansas where he served as a Nuclear Security Officer in Russellville, Ar. He was employed by Willis Shaw Trucking Co. and U.S. Security Associates. They retired in Winter Haven, FL. He was a life member of VFW Post 4289, Winter Haven and a member of AMVETS. Paul attended St. Mary's School, Champaign and was a 1962 graduate of Urbana High School.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 708 W. Main St., Urbana, IL., Rev. Fr. Joseph Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 71, Urbana. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL.
