William T. Broadie Jr. 89 of Springfield died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Center, Urbana.

Graveside services will be held at a later date. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Broadie was born on October 20, 1922 in Mason City, the son of William T. Broadie Sr. and Mary Elva Fletcher. He married Geraldine Wilson on July 30, 1949 in Peoria; she died on March 12, 2012.

Survivors include three daughters; Gail Broadie of Champaign, Cheryl Broadie of Carbondale and Nadine Broadie of Auburndale, Florida, one sister-in-law; Kathleen Broadie of St. Louis, Missouri, two nephews; Kim Broadie and Mark (Nancy) Broadie both of New York City, New York and two great nephews; Christopher Broadie and Daniel Broadie and numerous relatives in Mason City, IL.

He was preceded in death by one brother; Robert.

Mr. Broadie graduated from Bradley University and Syracuse University.

He retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1977 and from the State of Illinois Revenue Service in 1988.

He was a member of the Woodside United Methodist Church, Springfield and also a member of the Land of Lincoln Barbershop Chorus.

Before graduating from Bradley and Syracuse, Mr. Broadie served as an Aircraft Approach Controller in the Army Air Force in WW II.
