Wanda Mae Boyer, 97 of the Newman Health Care Center, Newman, formerly of Urbana, died at 3:25 a.m. Monday May 16, 2011. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 20 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana with Pastor Cathy Vincent officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Boyer was born August 16, 1913 at Mayview, the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Thompson) Roughton. She married Dale Trevor Boyer on June 25, 1940 in Tuscola and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2004. She is also preceded in death by a son, five sisters and six brothers. She is survived by a son, Henry Sadler of Los Alamitos, CA, daughters, Sue Standifer of Urbana, Kathy Boyer of Champaign and Jody Recor of Thousand Oaks, CA; grandchildren, Talor Ray (Tim) of St. Joseph, Shanna Standifer of Pesotum, Lucy Walsh of Los Angeles, CA, Grace Recor of Los Angeles, CA, and Spencer Recor of Thousand Oaks, CA, great grandchildren, Mason Ray of St. Joseph and Zane Richardson of Champaign.

Mrs. Boyer was cafeteria supervisor at Urbana Middle School, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Urbana, American Legion Post 71 Women's Auxiliary, Urbana and was president of the residents at the Newman Health Care Center where she was voted Valentine Queen last year. She enjoyed playing Bingo, singing and playing piano and organ at local nursing homes, telling jokes and entertaining.
